All Things ‘Lovebox’

Last Saturday my best friend Samantha and I spent the day at Lovebox festival in Victoria Park. Sam is an editor so she was interviewing the performers, and I’m a photographer so I was taking pictures of, well, everything…because that’s what photographers tend to do. This meant we got given VIP tickets and press/photo passes. Lucky us!

Now I’ll be honest and admit I’m not a huge party animal and I don’t usually go to festivals. I’d never even heard of Lovebox a couple of weeks ago (I’m really not down with the cool kids). I was, however, really impressed by this London festival. The ambience was colourful and sort of majestic and the atmosphere was fun and lively. What made everything even better was that the weather turned out great; it was a perfect day to be sitting in the sunshine with an ice cold beer/cider/orange juice/whatever you love to drink, whilst hearing some great live music. There were plenty of places to eat, drink, hangout, and dance.

I was not only impressed by the place and how well it had been done up, but also the people and how they had done themselves up. The fashion was, how do I describe it? Very ‘festivally’. Flowers in hair, jewels on face, glitter all over bodies etc, etc. I photographed some of the guests that I thought had the most interesting/cool/creative styles. These photos will definitely inspire you to create a new festival look this season.

the VIP area was my favourite. It was smaller and there were limited food options but it had a more luxury and relaxed feel to it. The seating areas had a nice touch with beanbags and sofas and if you were lucky enough to grab one of those you were a King watching over the peasants on their ordinary wooden chairs. The food was far from the average burgers with fries and much more exotic, which was not great for Sam who is a very, very, very fussy eater. We ended up with fries…

Sam interviewed the New York based band ‘Lion Babe’ and I was snapping away in the background whilst admiring Jillian Hervey’s huge hair.

All in all it’s the perfect festival for any hipster to either kick back and enjoy some great music with a drink (or four) or dance their toes off to some great music with a drink (or ten).
