Fuss-Free Strawberry Lemonade

Strawberry Lemonade

Happy Saturday everyone! I’m sure you’re all just as glad it’s the weekend as I am. And bonus- it’s sunny! And it’s going to be fairly warm and sunny for the rest of the weekend and into the beginning of next week. This is possibly the last warmish weather we’re going to get for what is going to feel like 10 trillion years, so if you’re anything like a typical Brit you will be taking advantage of this and having the last BBQ of the year. I’m sure it will be a bittersweet experience.

Talking of sweet – I’m going to share the easiest recipe ever for some fresh strawberry lemonade which will be essential for your last BBQ of the year (dun dun dun!) When I say it’s fuss-free I really mean it. You won’t have to stand for hours in the kitchen hand squeezing juice out of a lemon, questioning whether the effort and mess is even worth it and what is the point in lemonade or life etc etc. None of that nonsense.

What you will need:

  1. 2/3 unwaxed lemons
  2. A punnet of strawberries
  3. caster sugar/honey
  4. water
  5. ice (if you want it)
  6. a blender

First of all, roughly chop up the lemons and strawberries like in the picture below. Slice some lemon and strawberries and put aside to serve in the lemonade.

Pop your chopped ingredients into a blender with 100ml of cold water. To sweeten it up add some caster sugar or honey. Everyone has a different taste preference so whether you use sugar or honey and how much is completely your choice. I have a super sweet tooth but the first time I made this it was actually too sweet for me. The next time around I made it with a mixture of honey and some caster sugar and it was perfect. The key is to taste it as you go and add honey/sugar until it’s sweet enough for you.

Once you have finished blending, pour the lemonade into a jug through a sieve to leave behind the pulp and seeds (because swallowing a seed whilst taking a sip of your perfectly made lemonade would be horrifying).

Serve it in glasses/plastic cups/mugs/whatever you wish with some sliced lemons, strawberries and ice. Easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy. That was an epic pun right there!

The glasses in the picture below were purchased from Hobbycraft and are perfect for home-made beverages.

This fresh strawberry lemonade also goes perfect with vodka if you want to push the boat out. It’s 5pm somewhere in the world…

I hope you all enjoy the last of the summer and don’t let the sunny days go to waste!
