I love that Bublé song.
I know I’ve been MIA lately, or actually for a good while now, please forgive me. There have been a handful of times I have written a blog post and then deleted it. I am so overly critical of myself lately.
I love blogging and I really love photography. I didn’t want to give up on this blog, even though I guess I sort of did, but for the most part I didn’t really have a choice. Some of you may know I am now a full time freelance photographer, and running my own business is more challenging than I originally thought it could be. I mean, surely working for yourself is so much easier, right? No more 7am alarms, a commute that only involves dragging yourself from your bed to your desk, no annoying boss telling you when you can and can’t take time off, so much more freedom. Yeah it’s great, but the responsibility is real. Having a business is like having a baby, it needs constant attention and nurturing for it to survive and develop, and you have to sacrifice some of the things you enjoy, like blogging and having a social life. It’s tough, but I have seen the hard work pay off, especially lately. And it feels good!
Yesterday I had a down day. It was miserable. I lacked motivation for anything. I managed to do a couple of chores here and there, but not half as much as I wanted to do. I skipped my workout and ate unhealthily, using the classic ‘its Sunday, I’ll start again tomorrow’ excuse. It was just a bleurgh day. Everyone has them, don’t they?! My friend said to me, ‘Tomorrow’s a new day yo, don’t let it get to you :)’ and he’s right. Today is a new day and I am going to take it on with a positive outlook, as clichè as that sounds. I have been meaning to post on here for a while now, and have so many new photos to share with you all. Today just felt like the day for a fresh start, to start doing the things I love again, to start taking care of myself a bit more. feeling rubbish yesterday made me realise that. I guess sometimes it takes a step backward to move forward.
Hopefully I can get back into posting regularly and even continue my Tube Stop Tuesday series. It may not be posted every week, as part of the reason I took a break from it was because I was putting myself under pressure to post it weekly, rather than just when I had spare time to actually enjoy it. It’s really important to me that I enjoy this because the second it becomes a routine and a chore rather than a hobby, is the second I lose motivation to do it.
I am also really excited to be spending Christmas this year in California with my partner, and I can’t wait to spend that special time with him, and share with all of you what we get up to over the festive period! I’ll be there for over three weeks so am really looking forward to that nice long break. It will be well deserved!
For now, here’s a photo I took in Greenwich Park during the summer. As you know this is my favourite place in London, and in general. I’d love to share all of my summer photos taken here in a different post.
Please tell me what you have all been up to over the Summer, and what you have planned for the Autumn and Winter period! Say hi! I’d love to hear from you all again 🙂
